The dreaded V-day

So... it's obviously almost that dreaded day. The 14th day of the second month in the year. The "V word"!!! Okay, so yes, I have a boyfriend-- and yes, we're even celebrating this year (last year, Justin would cup his hands over his ears and run screaming out of the room at the mere mention of "Valentine's Day")... but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous, or desirable. Justin has to work until 10:00pm both Friday and Saturday, and works all day long on Sunday. What a bummer, right? I've got a plan devised (don't worry, he doesn't read my blog... yet) to make a scavenger hunt for him, sending him all over the apartment, maybe even the apartment building, in search for wild and whacky clues to get to his present (mass amounts of chocolate, three cards (I couldn't decide) and an 8gb iPod nano-- if it gets here in time), but this will have to occur Friday night when he gets home from work. As a matter of fact, I have a massage scheduled for Valentine's Day with my friend Kate. Her fiance, Fred, has known for the past year that he would be gone every weekend in February. This weekend, he'll be in Denver. Knowing that Justin and I don't typically celebrate, he asked that I go with Kate for a massage in downtown Pittsburgh with her. I can't pass up a massage-- especially when Fred insisted that he pay for it. So, that's my plan. But really, do I even care? Nah, not in the slightest.

Valentine's Day is kind of stupid, if you ask me. Aren't you supposed to love the person you're with 365 days a year? Not love them once a year, and any other appropriate gift-giving holiday. I mean, come on now. Not only does his work schedule put a damper on any plans, but how special is a home-cooked meal when I cook several a week? How special would a dinner reservation be when the majority of my meals out are with him? Valentine's Day is REALLY just a Hallmark holiday... and I can say this because I am in a relationship, and still think this.

Justin and I have decided not to go over the top this year... not that we ever had. I was actually shocked when he mentioned even celebrating it. I don't really know what he has planned, of if he even has a plan yet, but a card with something nice written inside of it would be fine with me.

I don't know why I'm talking about this. My goal was to come here and tell you all that I've finished the second Twilight book. The second book (560ish pages) took me from Sunday evening until yesterday late afternoon to finish... so, Sunday-Wednesday. Not too shabby. I should have been able to finish it Tuesday night, but I had to go out with Meghann in search of stuff for V-day while the boys were away at work and stuff. I'm only about 60 pages into the third book at this point. Last night, I felt like I should do something besides dive into the third book (630ish pages). So, I watched an episode of 30 Rock and played Monopoly on the Wii with Justin. Exciting life, I know. I warned you at the beginning of this blog that I didn't think I had much to write about :)
