I definitely spent the weekend in the woods

So, yes, it was definitely confirmed. I spent this past weekend in the forest, in a cabin, "in honor of my birthday". I have the best friends ever.

Last Monday night, Justin spilled the beans and let me know, but I had to keep it a secret that I knew, so that Kate wouldn't be horribly disappointed that her secret was out. When Justin found out his schedule was being switched around, and that he'd have to work until 9:30pm on Friday night (despite us needing to leave Friday afternoon), Kate freaked out, came to my apartment four minutes before a conference call, and told me. I was very good at acting surprised, and we decided to stick with the original game plan... I'm SO glad we did.

We arrived at our 2-bedroom cabin in the center of Cook Forest around 5:30pm on Friday evening and stayed until late morning on Sunday. While there, we ate chicken and FILET MIGNON shish kabobs, smores, hung out by the fire, ate a cake in honor of my birthday that's a month away, played cards, rode bumper boats, went mini golfing, climbed the fire tower, had a fancy dinner, and just all around had a great time. I wish I had the money to have more fabulous getaway weekends like that. It was SUCH a good time, and such a bummer to start work back up on Monday. On that note, I've got to get back to work now, but wanted to stop by quickly. It's a busy week for me. Haircut tonight and returning my new running shoes (too small!), Dori's getting groomed tomorrow and Justin and I are going to the movies, Thursday is Zumba in the Streets (I'll post a blog about that in a second, come to think of it), Friday is the Dave Matthews Band concert, and Saturday I'm taking Kate out to dinner for her bithday (she turns 25 on Sunday!)

Enjoy some pictures from the weekend!
